Review: HALLOWED by Cynthia Hand

This is the 23rd book I've read this year.

For months part-angel Clara Gardner trained to face the raging forest fire from her visions and rescue the alluring and mysterious Christian Prescott from the blaze. But nothing could prepare her for the fateful decisions she would be forced to make that day, or the startling revelation that her purpose—the task she was put on earth to accomplish—is not as straightforward as she thought.

Now, torn between her increasingly complicated feelings for Christian and her love for her boyfriend, Tucker, Clara struggles to make sense of what she was supposed to do the day of the fire. And, as she is drawn further into the world of part angels and the growing conflict between White Wings and Black Wings, Clara learns of the terrifying new reality that she must face: Someone close to her will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.

Christian beliefs: They're angels. They talk about God often, not much respect is going on, but sometimes.

Other belief systems: Nope.

Language: Hell is used wrongly, and they use the LORD's name in vain multiple. (which I fine ironic, considering they're angels...)

Violence: People get hurt, there's some blood.

Romance: KISSING!! And I'm going to give out a spoiler....everyone knows, (whos read UNEARTHLY) that Tucker and Clara like each other...so they almost take it a step further....(which I was like....'what?!') But they don't ever make it though. But Clara doesn't have her shirt on. And Clara daydreams about her getting married to Tucker and having a child etc....
And there's always Christian floating around...

Comments:

Good points:

I liked how well Cynthia plots! It was a roller coaster ride. Most of things, I would have never expected.
Most of the time, I was like...WOAH. No way! WOW. NO!!!! (seriously.)
It was a great squeal, and I can't wait for 3!!

Negative points:

They're angels, they shouldn't be using the LORD's name in vain. I mean...that's SO ironic....so every time they did I wasn't happy. It seemed so backwards to me. I mean, it's alright to be upset at God, I mean, who isn't at one point in time? But do you really need to use His name in vain like that? Mostly if your an ANGEL? And the fact that Tucker and Clara almost went to far I mean...come on guys, you can get married soon, just wait, ok? And Christian, I mean, leave poor Clara alone!! lol.

It was hard to write this, my brain is still processing this book...(405 pages in less than 24 hours...O.o) So it's kinda short, but overall, I REALLY enjoyed this book, it just keeps guessing, and you just don't want to put it down! I stayed up until 1 last night reading. And I would have stayed up longer, but I was super tired....(I haven't done that in a long while...)

Rating: 5 stars!!
