Party!!

Hey everyone!!

My writing career birthday party is today!!! Just follow this link: PARTY! or go up top to "Maddie's Writing Career Birthday Party page!!" :)

Here's the plan for the party:

Make sure you stay the entire time!! There is no set plan. It's just an hour of fun!! So if you show up for a certain thing, there's a good chance it's already over, or we haven't done it yet. So make sure you stay for the whole hour! (if you can't, that is fine.) And those who asked: you don't need to bring me presents. ;)

Plan for Maddie's party:

5pm-6pm
just chat until everyone is mostly here.
Then, do giveaways, and will announce winners after questions. Then you guys can chat until I get the special guests. ;) Catherine and Jashub will be to answer all your questions. :D And I know your excited about that!! And then I'll make just some announcements. Hopefully, you won't get bored and leave. Then you can ask more questions and just chat until I kick you out. lol

Giveaways:  (will announce how to win at the party)
1st place winner gets to pick any book they want out of my books. (not including Shadow Future)
2nd place winner gets a "Feathers" book.
3rd place winner gets a signed bookplate.

Special Guests: The Pirate Chronicles crew! (Catherine and Jashub and maybe some more...)

Questions: Ask away! As long as they're appropriate. If they are not, they will not be answered. Ex: "What's your favorite food?" (that's a good question.) I will not being doing a example of a bad question.

Announcements: Come and find out!!

I hope to "see" you all there!!!!

After Christmas Post!

Hey everyone!!

I hope everyone had a GREAT Christmas!!! I did. :) I got some awesome things. I got two books by Ally Carter. And a PSP with Pirates of the Caribbean LEGOS. (and you know much I like that.) And I got a really cool hat. (I can't spell it, so here's a pic of one:)

There...that hat. lol

Anyhoo, I watched the movie: "What If?" with my family on Christmas night. And I got this verse from it, check it out:

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves.  Love never fails."
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

:)

Merry CHRISTmas everyone! Jesus is the REASON of the season!!

God bless!

Merry Christmas Eve!!

Hey everyone!!!

Merry Christmas Eve!! Are you guys excited? I sure am. :)

I already got some awesome gifts from my Nana and Papa. I'll probably post pics later.

I'm dancing at my church tonight. (2 hours of awesomeness!) nervous. Pray for me.

I also have a cough, but that's almost gone. I'm super happy about that!!

Ok, so as a Christmas present, here's a little paragraph from SHADOW FUTURE.

I braced myself. I can do this. Adskhan and Arnold are nervous too. I kept telling myself.

Then I felt hands on me and I was forced to stand up.

My heart beat in my ears.

I made my legs work. One by one. Step by step.

I looked at the ground and the hands stopped me.

I sensed the figure before me stand.

I could sense his nerves. And how nervous he was. But I couldn’t sense who it was.

I was told to put out my left hand.

I did, my heart felt like it would come out of me. And fly across the room and hit an Elder in the face. I smirked at that image, but vanished when I remembered what I was doing.

Then the boy before me, reached out from behind his cloak and took my left hand in his, and he removed the glove, like thousands of couples have done for decades.

And he lifted my hand to his lips and kissed it.

And immediately I knew who it was. I…I couldn’t believe who it was.

Annnnnd, one more thing, a littlie piece of the REAL cover:

Merry Christmas everyone!! "God bless us! Everyone!" - Tiny Tim.

Review: The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter

This is the 90th book I've read this year.

It's always been just Kate and her mom—and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won't live past the fall.
Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld—and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.
Kate is sure he's crazy—until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess.

Christin Beliefs/Other belief systems: it's all Greek mythology. And they do mention Christina and saying that Satan was part of the Christin belief system. (that just annoyed me, but it's true) and there are the Greek gods.

Language:  There was, p--s, d----it, d--n, b--ch. There was screw too. And they used the LORD's name in vain a couple of times.

Romance: Well, there was lots of kissing, but not until towards the end of the book. That's when it got serious. They refer to sex as "that" they never say sex though. And people do sleep with each other. But they just say it. One time someone wakes up in a "tangle of limbs". And there's always the "wife" thing floating around. I think that sums that up.

Any other bad things: Not really, just that there's blood, and someone gets their head cracked open. And you can see...things...(it was gross, I skipped that part lol) and someone hurts their ankle. But I didn't like, was that some people were in each others rooms. And they weren't the same gender. Me, personally, I wouldn't like a guy in my room, even if it was day time. Or anytime. It was one of my good friends, I wouldn't find as much, but I usually have a girl with me too. Anyway, that's just my opinion. And there's always the kidnapping theory floating around too, in the beginning. And people are dying...I mean, Henry is the god of the Underworld. What do you except, you know?

Comments: This book was great. But not as great as I thought it would be. I found myself skipping lots of things. Because I was bored, or I just wanted to see what happened. I like Greek myths and the gods and all that. But this wasn't anything like Percy Jackson. And I was little disappointment. Aimee was changing myths, and Rick Riordan does that too, but not as much as Aimee was doing. And even though Greek myths, are well, just myths. It bothered me. But I still enjoyed it enough to keep going. (I actually stayed up until 1am last night reading it. That's the first time I've finished a book in a day btw.) It also took awhile for something to get going. But that's what authors do. (I'm getting better at that.) they make you want to keep reading, so they keep holding back the truth. And the mystery in there was great. I actually almost solved it!

Rating: 4 out of 5 for awesomeness
2 out of 5 for any age. (for romance, and violence)

*evil laugher* I have the cover!! Can't wait to show you! (I will probably show you when I have a release date, or maybe before...)

Just wanted to show you! Make sure you check out the summary for Shadow Future:

Pearl has always been the quiet girl, she lets people tell her what to do.  And when your a girl in a very controlling place, that's always a good choice.
But when a choice is made for her, that she can't go through with.  She can't change it, no matter how hard she tries.
She tells herself that she needs to make her own future. But she doesn't know how. She's never had to stand up for herself, until now.
She tries, and ends up knowing things she would have rather not have known. And pain that's almost too much to handle.
But she knows she must keep trying, no matter what happens, or her future will be a dark...

Feathers Dec. 14th!

Hey guys!!

I just finished editing FEATHERS. It took me...*counts mentually* 2 hours. lol Not long actually. I just fixed spelling and some grammar. Nothing huge.

In other news, I finished almost revising Shadow Future. It's getting published, so I'm trying to make it as best as I can.
Also, I went to a lock in on Friday. 8pm-6am we stayed up. I got 1 hour of sleep, then I went home and slept for five hours and then got up for 5ish hours and my friends came home, then I got up this morning for church, I watched my lil sis sing in the Kids Choir.
I was really tired, and sore. So it was a good day to edit. hehe

Well, there's only one more Teaser Tuesday until FEATHERS comes out! I can't wait until you guys read it. :))) Here's the cover again:

I just though of something...my name isn't on the cover. Oopsey. lolzz

Well, bye for now! Go to: madisonlouisesbooks.weebly.com to read FEATHERS on Dec. 14th!

Bye!

Review: Matched by Ally Condie

This is the 90th book I've read this year.

Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate... until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow

 Christian Beliefs: ...

Other Belief systems: Cassia does refer to the Society as their God's. Like, they have to obey them, because if you don't, you'll be in huge trouble.
The Society does have a big hand hold on everyone, they control everything you do.

Language: None. Nada. I am very happy. I was like, "what? No bad words? No swearing? No using the LORD's name in vain? YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!"

Romance: There is kissing, sometimes on the cheek, and sometimes on the lips. But it's very sweet. This is the first YA novel where the kissing really isn't bad, and it's just short and sweet. I love reading about kisses like that. :)
They hug a lot, and Cassia says she loves someone, in two different ways, and other people say that too.
Also, on a person's 17th birthday, they have a Match Banquet. Where the Society finds who that one person will marry. It's like an arranged marriage, but very sci-fi like.

Any other bad things: Nope, just that the Society is very not nice, and that they say that some people die, and on a person's 80th birthday, they die. There are things called "Infraction" which is when someone does something bad, and they have to be punished for it. Or "cited" which is the same thing basically.

Comments: I loved this book. It was like a poem. It felt like I was reading a poem. I also liked how there was nothing too seriously bad in this book. Just a few kisses here and there, and throwing someone into someone elses arms. Romantic. A very sweet romance. :)
What I didn't like, was that the author wrote as if the story was happening then and there to the person, so they used words like 'say' and words that say that the story is happening now. It messed up my writing because I don't write in first person like it, I use words like 'watched' and 'said'. Like it happened. And it's not happening right this minute.
I also didn't like how when Cassia called, s he didn't have any emotion in her words really. But when she thought, there was more emotion.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars for awesomeness.
And 4 out of 5 stars for any age. :)

Review: Leaving Fishers by Margaret Peterson Haddix

This is the 89th book I've read this year.

Summary from: www.goodreads.com

A new girl in town joins a cult-like religious group until an outrageous act forces her to reexamine her values and find a way to break free.

Christian Beliefs/Other belief systems: Well, here we go...The Fishers of Men group or 'cult' is all about following God's rules, and what is in the Bible, they just don't take it the right way. They make people do things that God would never want them to do. But they do know that Jesus died for them, and that if you don't accept Christ, you would go to hell, they just don't understand that if you mess up, or don't pray enough, or something else crazy, you'd go to hell even though you were saved.

Language: They use the LORD's name in vain once. And Dorry (the main character) thinks that someone will call her an idoit. And they use sex a couple times, which isn't bad, it's a thing that husband and wife do when their married, but I know to some people it is, so I'm going to tell you, but not in a bad way...like...it helps tell the story, but it also says how messed up a certain person is, and how some people fell for it. It acutally  made me want to cry. It was so sad.

Romance: They use sex sometimes, and lust and liking someone, or saying that someone was hunk, or that he cute. And some guys joke around about girls being there, since girls and boys weren't allowed to mix in the Fishers until a Level Two. (I know, weird). And a girl named Lara said she laid with any guy who wanted her, because she felt lonely, but she stopped that when she joined the Fishers.

Any other bad things: I think I've mentioned anything that would bother somebody, just that Dorry gets sick, and fasts so much that she looses weight, and her grades go down, and she gets like, no sleep because of all the praying the Fishers told  her to do.

Comments: I LOVED IT!!! It really tells you about what other people really believe, It was also kind of test, I am a Christian, not afraid to say it either, so it was kind of interesting to see what the Fishers believed. This is by far, the most awesome book I've read this year, and it took me 87 other books to find that out! lol. I hope you guys take time to read it. It might make you cry in some places, just a warning. But a cry now and then ain't to bad. :)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars for AMAZINGINGESS
3 out of 5 for any age. (I think only teens and up should read this, and maybe a 12 year old, and it all depends on your parents allowance with certain books)

Review: PALACE OF MIRRORS by Margaret Peterson Haddix

This is the 88th book I've read this year.

This is a spoiler free review. :) (my first ever)

Summary from: goodreads.com

Cecelia lives like a peasant girl, but she knows she is truly a princess, hidden away as an infant for safety and replaced by a decoy commoner. When danger finds her in her small village, Cecelia decides it is time to act, setting out to claim her rightful place on the throne. But when she and her best friend Harper venture to the capital city and into the famed Palace of Mirrors, they discover that all is not as it seems, and that they have placed themselves in more danger than they could have imagined….

Christian beliefs: They don't say that they believe in Jesus Christ. But they do say things like. 'Thank God'.

Other belief systems: None. :) Besides saying things like 'fabled' which could possibly be directed towards magic. But they never say that it is magic.

Language: Well, they never say anything bad words, but they say things like, 'idiot' and they say like 'curses' like, not...'I curse you' but like, they say lines like, for example, 'blast the dark one's sneezes!" hehe.  There are a couple of those in there, but they're harmless, and quite funny. :)

Romance: Well, there is one kiss (on the lips mind you.) and the author says that the characters weren't sure how to turn their heads to kiss each other. lol. They say things like 'marrying' and 'the best knight's hand in marriage' and how they are, and how going around together. (boy and girl) isn't allowed. But that's it. :) But I liked, I didn't have to read anything too, serious.

Any other bad things: They enemy is always out there, and that they want to kill the 'true princess'. And someone gets hit with a harp. And a dog jumps out at Cecilia. And Harper (Cecilia's best friend) and Cecilia make fun of each other by jokes that, if you would have said to anyone else, you would get their feelings hurt. It's like...'you can only say it to your friends' jokes. If that makes any sense.

Comments: I loved it. It was a great read. With no bad words, nothing bad. And I would let my sister read this. But the only thing that bothered me, and it has nothing to do with the book, it's that this book was up in the teen section in my library. I think it belongs in the kid section. I think a ten year old or even younger that could read this. Depending on what their parents let them read. :)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars for amazingness.
And 5 out of 4 stars for any age. (because of the little romance and a little violence)

Review: THE SON OF NEPTUNE by Rick Riordan

WARNING: THIS IS THE 2ND BOOK IN THE HEROES OF OLYMPUS SERIES. IT ALSO HAS SPOILERS FROM THE PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS SERIES AS WELL.

Son of Neptune----> (Blue Bunny wouldn't put it down)

Summary from: www.goodreads.com

Seven half-bloods shall answer the call,
To storm or fire the world must fall.
An oath to keep with a final breath,
And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death.

Percy is confused. When he awoke from his long sleep, he didn't know much more than his name. His brain fuzz is lingering, even after the wolf Lupa tol him he is a demigod and trained him to fight with the pen/sword in his pocket. Somehow Percy manages to make it to a camp for half-bloods, despite the fact that he has to keep killing monsters along the way. But the camp doesn't ring and bells with him. The only thing he can recall from his past is another name: Annabeth

Hazel is supposed to be dead. When she lived before, she didn't do a very good job of it. Sure, she was an obedient daughter, even when her mother was possessed by greed. But that was the problem - when the Voice took over he mother and commanded Hazel to use her "gift" for and evil purpose, Hazel couldn't say no. Now because of her mistake, the future of the world is at risk. Hazel wished she could ride away from it all on the stallion that appears in her dreams.

Frank is a klutz. His grandmother says he is descended from heroes and can be anything he wants to be, but he doesn't see it. He doesn't even know who his father is. He keeps hoping Apollo will claim him, because the only thing he is good at is archery - although not good enough to win camp war games. His bulky physique makes him feel like an ox, especially infront of Hazel, his closest friend at camp. He trusts her completely - enough to share the secret he holds close to his heart.

Beginning at the "other" camp for half-bloods and extending as far as the land beyond the gods, this breathtaking second installment of the Heroes od Olympus series introduces new demigods, revives fearsome monsters, and features other remarkable creatures, all destined to play a part in the Prophesy of Seven.

Christian beliefs: ...

Other belief systems:  The Olympian gods. Both Roman and Greek. And the myths and stories that go along with them.

Language: Percy can understand what horses are saying because his dad is Poseidon, the god of the sea, and he created horses, so what I am getting at is that, one horse cusses. But Percy never says what he says. He almost says the other word for your button. But he stops. The author also says that Percy and Frank cuss like a horse. But he doesn't say what they said. Thank goodness.  Also, they say. "oh my gods" and "oh gods" a couple times.

Romance: SPOILER: Hazel kisses Frank on the lips. But the author doesn't describe it. It's a cute, sweet moment. Hazel also kisses Percy on the cheek. The author describes it as a 'sisterly kiss' which I found very sweet and cute. :) SPOILER: And Percy thinks about Annabeth, his girlfriend, all the time, and how much he misses her.

Any other bad things: There are fight scenes. The author describes the blood sometimes, but nothing horrible. (believe me, I've read worse than what's in this book) and also, Tyson hits another Cyclopes's groin. It's actually kind of funny how the scene goes down. All you read is someone saying that it's sensitive and then that's about it.

Comments: I loved every second of it. I admit, I would have gotten it done earlier, but I am a teen, and a teen needs sleep. So, I fell asleep, meaning to pick up the book, but didn't. (my light got left one a good many nights) I also blame Rick for making the book so awesome, my imagination was going crazy with new plots and ideas. hehe
I love how it's so kiddish, but for my age as well. An adult would enjoy this I'm sure. I love how the romance isn't too high, and that it's cute and sweet. Like a romance everyone wants. (at least, that's what I want) And I love how most of the couples were friends and then they started to date. But I must admit, I didn't like how Hazel likes Frank, who is 16 and she's 13. BUT, she died and then came back to life 70 years later. But still...
Well, I loved it. It was amazing. I can't wait for the 3rd book. (it'll be called: The Mark of Athena and it comes out Fall 2012. A WHOLE year!! Gah!!)

Rating: 5 out of 5 for AMAZINGNESS!
And, 5 out of 5 for ANY AGE. (kids that can understand that is, you could read it to a little kid. (3 or 5) but I doubt they'd understand what was going on.)

Thanks for reading my review! This was my 85th book I've read this year. :D

I felt like posting...

Hello everyone!

As you know, I'm working on a new book called, TWO RINGS. And maybe it'll have a sequel. Not sure yet. But anyway, what I was going to tell you was that, I'm going to write another Pirate Chronicles after TWO RINGS.

Do you guys remember little Marie Antoinette from "A Pirate's Life for Me?" Well, she's going to be older now, and I'm pretty sure she's going to make an appearance.
I was trying to find a good movie to watch, you know, to find out what life was like back in 1770 and the clothes and such.
Take my advice and don't watch THE DUCHESS and the new MARIE ANTOINETTE. The old one might be ok, but I'm getting a PBS video on her to watch.

Anyway, thought I'd tell you that. And don't forget to vote on the poll. My facebook page and writing career's birthday is Dec. 27th and I'm going to pick which every set of characters to answer all your questions. :)

So vote!!

Well, take care you guys!!!!

Review: THE IRON KNIGHT by Julie Kagawa

This is the 84th book I've read this year.

WARNING THIS BOOK IS THE FOURTH BOOK IN THE IRON FEY SERIES, DO NOT READ AHEAD IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO READ A LOT OF SPOILERS.

Summary from: www.goodreads.com

My name- my True Name- is Ashallyn'darkmyr Tallyn. I am the last remaining song of Mab, Queen of the Unseelie Court.

And I am dead to her.

My fall began, as many stories do, with a girl...

To cold faery prince Ash, love was a weakness for mortals and fools. His own love had died a horrible death, killing gentler feelings the Winter Prince might have had. Or so he thought.

Then Meghan Chase- a half-human, half-fey slip of a girl- smashed through his barricades, binding him to her irrevocably with his oath to be her knight. And when all of Faery nearly fell to the Iron fey, she severed their bond to save his life. Meghan is now the Iron Queen, ruler of a realm where no Winter or Summer faery can survive,

With the unwelcome company of his archrival, Summer Court prankster Puck, and the infuriating cait sith Grimalkin, Ash begins a journey he is bound to see through its end- a quest to find a way to honor his vow to stand by Meghan's side.

To survive the Iron Realm, Ash must have a soul and a mortal body. But the tests he must face to earn these things are impossible. And along the way, Ash learns something that changes everything. A truth that challenges his darkest beliefs and shows him that, sometimes, it takes more than courage to make the ultimate sacrifice.

First off, I just want to say that, this is one of the books that I found...rushing a little too much. Don't get me wrong, I loved the plot and everything, but there were a lot of words that were used a lot. It's like reading a paragraph with too many 'so's' in it. But I loved the plot and the characters.
You get to know Ash a look better than you did before. You can see what he's been thinking this whole time.  Also, I got this book on Monday of this week, and finished this morning at 8:00am. I stayed up 3 hours reading it last night. That's probably why I slept until 10:00 this morning...

I'm sure Team Ash enjoyed this book very much. But me being Team Puck...it was a little hard to read. *winks*

Alright, let's get started:

Christian beliefs: the words 'sin' is used, but that could work with any religion.

Other belief systems: Magic, faeries, the power of love. *winks*

Language: I found this book being the only one in the Iron Fey series that had the least cussing and swearing. Which I was grateful for. Well, here's the langauge: I did not read the LORD's name being used wrongly. Which I was so glad about. h--l, b-----d, a-s, b---h and idiot was used. That's it for the language.

Romance: Well, to start off, there are only like three kissing scenes in this book, but those kisses were very important. :) And Ash thinks about Meghan all the time, and how he has to get through his almost impossible journey to be with her. And he's always thinking about Ariella, is former love that was killed a long time ago. And Ash and Meghan sleep together, but what really upset me, is, Ash and Meghan have kissed and slept together at least twice, and it bothers me how SPOILER:  once Ash and Meghan got married, it wasn't the first time they kissed and the first time they slept together. And it made me want to cry. I am waiting, and on my wedding day will be the first time I kiss any man. At least, that's what I'm going for and I really hope that's how it ends up. :) Wow, that was a very long paragraph...

Any other bad things: There are fighting scenes and a lot of ketchup, (if you get my meaning) and people and creatures die. It's like Narnia, and Lord of the Rings, battles and descriptions of what happened and such, but nothing too gruesome every happens. Not that I read though, I skipped through some things because I'm a very impatient person and wanted to get on with things. lol

Comments: Aside from the ones up there, I'd say this book was really good and I enjoyed it. It made me cry in some places, I'm never a crier about things like that, I've only cried during one movie, and that was...no, it's too embarrassing, fine, Hotel for Dogs. Yes! I know, so humiliating. But I never cried watching it again though. But I came pretty close this time, and those were happy tears, opposite of the ones for Hotel for Dogs, that movie was...*sniff* *sniff* so sad at places....*clears throat* ok, rating time.

Rating: I'd give it 2 out of 5 for any age AND 4 out of 5 for awesomeness.

Thank you for reading my review!!

Keep dreaming!
