Exciting Developments

(Please excuse any grammar issues, or misspellings. This was written in a very fast pace, without a lot of thought.)

So...on Monday, it was my first day of school, which I must say, was TIRING and STRESSFUL. And so was Tuesday...

But....I'm taking French, so I've been speaking random phrases, I feel so...French-ish.

OK....ok....here's a saying: Bonjour! Comment ca va? (Good morning! How are you?)

Neat huh? I didn't even look that up to remember how it was spelled. SCORE!

Now, I must hurry with the last exciting thing, bc my first class will start any second, so...without further ado....

I GOT ASKED TO MY FIRST DANCE LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*DANCES FLOATS*

I haven't stopped smiling, and dancing around my house since last night....

I am SO excited!! I get to go dress shopping, post pictures of me dress shopping...all that stuff that girls do for dances. I can't wait. :D

Ok, gotta go!

-Madison

PS: I came up with a new story last night...but...I must finish edits, and every other book I have to write first. So yeah....And BTW, Two Rings #2 edits are going great! I'm adding new stuff to it. I can't wait to let you read it!

SHADOW FUTURE @ The Library!

Yep!! You read it right! SHADOW FUTURE is at the library!!

I just came back from my local library, where one of the nice YA librarians is going to give SF to the cataloging librarian, and it should be on the shelf sometime next week!

SQUEE!!!!!!

(sorry...overly excited) Also, she said that SF was the first selfpubbed book at their library! This made me want to jump up and down with joy...

I can't wait to see my book on a shelf, all stickered! (I forgot my signing marker, so I couldn't sign it, but she librarian said I could come back and sign it. :D)

Well...there's my news!!!

-Madison

PS: Today was the first day of school! It was very hectic, but it was fun. Now I am exhausted.

Two Rings #2 Edits are back!!

Hey everyone! Happy Saturday!! I hope everyone had a great week!

So...today, I got the edits of SF2! And so far.....I've found 3 pages without mistakes. (this makes an author happy!!)

So either today or tomorrow, I'm going to try and finish THE STORM, and I'll be free for edits! Which is good, because, school starts on Monday, and I won't have a lot of time to edit. (YAY! ;)) But once edits are done, I'll start writing Two Rings #3! I can't wait to start this one. :D

Well, back to reading...er...I mean writing. (ONYX! <3)

Review: My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century by Rachel Harris

On the precipice of her sixteenth birthday, the last thing lone wolf Cat Crawford wants is an extravagant gala thrown by her bubbly stepmother and well-meaning father. So even though Cat knows the family’s trip to Florence, Italy, is a peace offering, she embraces the magical city and all it offers. But when her curiosity leads her to an unusual gypsy tent, she exits . . . right into Renaissance Firenze

Thrust into the sixteenth century armed with only a backpack full of contraband future items, Cat joins up with her ancestors, the sweet Alessandra and protective Cipriano, and soon falls for the gorgeous aspiring artist Lorenzo. But when the much-older Niccolo starts sniffing around, Cat realizes that an unwanted birthday party is nothing compared to an unwanted suitor full of creeptastic amore

Can she find her way back to modern times before her Italian adventure turns into an Italian forever?

Good points:

I REALLY love time travel books. You learn, while having fun!

This is my second series that I've read, that includes girls going back in time to Italy, and meeting super cute guys, and making awesome friends. And I loved it!! I was hooked from the very beginning.

I love how old Cat is....she's only fifteen, going on sixteen. And I think it's good to have more YA books with girls who are younger than 17 and 18 and up. Because sometimes, I think some authors don't remember they're earlier teen years, and forget that they "fell in love" as well. ;) I mean, crushes start as early as 11. (this is from experience) and I think it's good to give the early teens a chance.

I love history, and I had the chance to learn even more about Italy in a new time period. Even though I had read a book similar to this one before, I'm not going to compare this one with that one. This is a new idea, and with new characters.

I loved how Cat had to go back in time, and learn some lessons, before she could return back to her time. I wish I could learn my lessons that way. lol.

Cat knew how to act around people. She knew what they expected, and what they wanted. She had the whole "My dad's famous, and I need to act just right" act and look going. But she wasn't really....happy. She didn't have any friends, and her future step mom is very annoying to her. But when she travels back in time to Italy, her perfect look disappears, and she can let herself out, make friends and possibly fall in love. ;)

Alessandra was awesome. I loved her name. So old fashioned, yet, someone in our time could totally rock the name as well.
Even though she knew how to act as a lady of her time, she still let loose some times, and tolerated Cat's weird way of doing things.

And her brother, Cipriono was cool too. He was a great older brother, and something I wish I could have. And even though he was in his 20's, he still enjoyed the company of his sister and Cat.

Now....Lorenzo, at first, I though that Alessandra was right, that he wasn't someone you should get involved with. But....of course, Cat did anyway. And proved Alessandra wrong. hehe. He was so kind and sweet, but funny and sarcastic at the same time. Which makes the perfect guy.

I liked how loving her "aunt and uncle" were towards Patience aka Cat. Even though they didn't even know her. I would have a hard time letting a stranger, even if family, into my house.

Negative points:

There was some language, but it was good. It was a "typical" vocab for a girl Cat's age. It wasn't swearing all over the place and all that.

I was a bit skeptical on the romance, Cat seemed to fall in love pretty quick. It seems like that in all YA books, but it seemed extra fast here. But maybe that's how love really works. :)

Also, I found Cat's way of talking a "little" annoying. Sure, it would be very hard to keep up the normal Italy dialogue of that day, but I don't think she was trying very hard to blend in. But I also loved her cover up: "how we talk in "London"." hehe.

Rating: 4.5 stars!!

This book was AWESOME. It had great lessons, great romance, and a great plot. And the cliffhanger will haunt me until 2013....O.o Also, even though it was an ARC, the writing was good, it was fresh, sort of right off the first batch of editing kind of book. And that's real writing, without all the fancy editing and such. :)

And now....a giveaway!!

Release: Sept. 11, 2012 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing | Purchase: Amazon | BookDepository

Author Bio (Spotlight)
Rachel Harris
As a teen, Rachel Harris threw raging parties that shook her parents’ walls and created embarrassing fodder for future YA novels.
As an adult, she reads and writes obsessively, rehashes said embarrassing fodder, and dreams up characters who become her own grown up version of imaginary friends.
When she's not typing furiously or flipping pages in an enthralling romance, you can find her homeschooling her two beautiful princesses, hanging out with her amazing husband, or taking a hot bubble bath…next to a pile of chocolate.
MY SUPER SWEET SIXTEENTH CENTURY is her debut novel.  She did have her own fantabulous Sweet Sixteen in high school. Sadly, it wasn't televised.

Review: Inbetween by Tara Fuller

Goodreads Page
Since the car crash that took her father’s life two years ago, Emma’s life has been a freaky—and unending—lesson in caution. Surviving “accidents” has taken priority over being a normal seventeen-year-old, so Emma spends her days taking pictures of life instead of living it. Falling in love with a boy was never part of the plan. Falling for a reaper who makes her chest ache and her head spin? Not an option.

It’s not easy being dead, especially for a reaper in love with a girl fate has put on his list not once, but twice. Finn’s fellow reapers give him heck about spending time with Emma, but Finn couldn’t let her die before, and he’s not about to let her die now. He will protect the girl he loves from the evil he accidentally unleashed, even if it means sacrificing the only thing he has left...his soul.

Release date: August 28, 2012

Good points:

At first, I wasn't going to even read this book. Reapers? I wasn't so sure. But when I got a chance to read the e-ARC, I jumped at the chance.

And I don't regret it. Inbetween was amazing.

I loved that it was from a girl's point of point, then a guy's. And Tara did an awesome job of telling both parts!! <3

Emma, even though her dad has died, and "accidents" keep happening to her, she still goes around, still trying to live life.

Finn was awesome. The best hero ever. I loved him. And I can't see why Emma wouldn't either. ;) He has green eyes!!! Green eyes are the best. (the swoony-est) And the fact that he's a soul, even better. And, he was in the army before he died. *sighs contently*

Emma and Finn's relationship was shaky at first. Emma wasn't sure if she was losing her mind, or this was all real. And the fact that Finn couldn't touch her without getting in trouble, it was a tense relationship. But they found a way through it all.

Annnnnd....Cash. Cash was awesome. I have friends who are boys, and I know how awesome they can be. And Cash was awesome. And I was glad that Cash wasn't going after Emma. Sometimes you just need a guy friend who's just...your friend, you know?

And the villain? Meave??? She was great!! She was crazy, and vengeful and all that great villain stuff. ;) (Even though I don't like her, she was a great villain.)

And I loved the whole "reaper" concept. I don't really read stuff like that, and I really enjoyed it. I liked how there was a reaper who pulled people who were "bad" to Hell. And one to put "good" people to Heaven. And then, Finn...I was a bit confused on who he reaped people for, but I was pretty sure it was the Inbetween, where souls get another shot at life if they make it that long.

Emma and her mother's relationship was tense too, Rachel just wanted to get re-married and be happy, but Emma just wanted her dad back. And her mom kept saying she wanted to be happy and Emma wasn't happy about it. But I think Emma and her mom will be ok, Parker seems like a nice guy. ;) (and he's a cop!!!)

Negative points:

The language, even though it wasn't as bad as other books I've read, I still don't enjoy it. But I didn't let it ruin the book for me. :)
And the fact that Emma keeps lying to people about the souls, I don't like lying, but I think in this case, Emma would be sent to Brookhaven again if she said she was talking to and seeing souls. So I think it's alright for now. ;P

Inbetween kept me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning. Most of the time I was either doing this:

"*Covers mouth with hand* Oh my gosh....oh my gosh!!" Or...."Just kiss her already you idiot!!"

I cannot wait for book 2! And don't forget to pick up your copy of, Inbetween when it comes out in August! :D

Rating: 5 stars!!

And, I have a giveaway for you guys!!!

Author Bio (Spotlight)
Description: Tara A. Fuller
Tara Fuller writes novels; some about grim reapers and some about witches. All of course are delightfully full of teen angst and kissing. Tara grew up in a one stop light town in Oklahoma where once upon a time she stayed up with a flash light reading RL Stine novels and only dreamed of becoming a writer. She has a slight obsession with music and a shameless addiction for zombie fiction, Mystery Science Theater, and black and white mochas. Tara no longer lives in a one stop light town. Now she lives with her family in a slightly larger town in North Carolina where they have at least three stoplights.

My WoW today is...

While trying to save her brother from the witch three years ago, Greta was thrown into the fire herself, falling through a portal to a dangerous world where humans are the enemy, and every ogre, goblin, and ghoul has a dark side that comes out with the full moon. To survive, 17-year-old Greta has hidden her humanity and taken the job of bounty hunter—and she’s good at what she does. So good, she’s caught the attention of Mylena’s young Goblin King, the darkly enticing Isaac, who invades her dreams and undermines her determination to escape. But Greta’s not the only one looking to get out of Mylena. The full moon is mere days away, and an ancient evil being knows she’s the key to opening the portal. If Greta fails, she and the boys she finds stranded in the woods will die. If she succeeds, no world will be safe from what follows her back . . .

This cover is amazing. Entangled does the best covers.

Home....again.

I'm home from vacation! That was the last of vacations and camps until next year.

Also, while I was there, I wrote feverishly so I could write that first kiss while on vacay. And I did!! *YIPPEE* And, I finished it on the last day, which was a very romantic like day. There were couples on the doc, holding hands. It was really sweet. <3

But the bad news is, I was sick all on vacation. I had a bad cold. And I'm still not over it yet. (I blame camp). Which is just like last vacation we went on. I got everyone else sick too. Which happened again this time. :p

BUT, vacation was still fun. And I didn't want to leave. Also, here's a song from my WIP playlist for you guys. (I'm planning on sharing this story with you guys very soon!)

This song is like the main theme, so it's a major spoiler. ;)

And check up on the FB page for pics of SF at Lakeside! My nana is a great photographer. ;)
(here's a sneak peek to the photos!
A little sneak peek at the Lakeside pics! SF is enjoying some ice cold water. But it just can't decide what to eat...)

I'M BACK!

I'm back from another summer camp!!!! It was hot, but fun. (most of the time. ;))

I met a little girl who's been writing since she was 5 and she really wants to get her book published. It was so neat to see her going after her dream. :) <3

I'm glad to be back! I will be leaving for vacay tomorrow evening, but I'm looking forward to writing and reading by the lake. <3
