Chapter 1 Teaser:
My eyes fly open, and I release a small gasp.
“About time,” he says, his odd teal and gold eyes staring into mine, challenging me to say something, but I’m too distracted by his body hovering above mine, encircled in light. Tiny sparkles shimmer from his blond hair, moving down each strand like water droplets on leaves after an April rain. My mouth drops open, and confusion cloaks my mind, shutting down my senses so I’m convinced I’m stuck in some deranged joke of my imagination. He can’t be here, this can’t be real, then he smirks, and I blanch, and I’m on the verge of a complete psych breakdown. Our eyes lock for several seconds. I grit my teeth together, fighting for control, sureness, something, because right now I’m torn between the absolute beauty of the Taking—of him—and rage more electrifying than anything I’ve ever experienced.
My Ancient is Jackson Locke.
